WE HAVE MOVED
Finally Indigo has moved to a new server. Most of the posts remain intact, although have housekeeping has been done to remove extraneous or no longer relevant posts from the blog. Check it out by clicking the link below, and go there for all future posts and updates. Thank you!
Finally Indigo
Well, the New Site is Up
As the title says, the new site is up. It’s still in “beta”, meaning I have a bit more organization and posting to do before it’s all finished (a lot of that is going to be adding pictures to posts…)
If you’d like to check it out, click here.
Stage One - Finished
The first stage of my blog migration is finished. All I have left to do is move over all of the user questions (there are a lot…) and I’ll be done. The new blog should be up by Friday. Thanks for holding on!
Moving to a New Server
So, I’ve decided to leave tumblr and move to a Wordpress server. Tumblr simply has too many issues and not enough customizing ability for what I want to be doing. Unfortunately, I’m only able to import posts that I created, not posts that are responses to your questions. So, to solve this, over the next few days I’ll be resposting all guest questions on my new server, which...
Anonymous asked: I was wondering what you think of blue mascaras. I know they're supposed to brighten up your eyes. I LOVE wearing blue liners & shadows because of this effect, but I'm wary of blue mascara as I'm afraid I'll wind up looking clownish. What's your opinion of them?

Anonymous asked: I've been having an issue with my eye makeup fading throughout the day. I've tried Urban Decay's Primer Potion which doesn't work at all for me and lately I've been trying Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow base, which has been working better than the Urban Decay one, but still not great. My shadows are essentially gone by my second period at school. I have extremely dry skin...

Midterms are finally over...
Hey guys! Sorry for my short disappearance. This past week was the week from hell: four midterms and none of them on the day they were scheduled for. I was up until 3am for three nights in a row studying for various subjects that kept changing dates, and it was just awful. I’ll be back to answering all of your questions and throwing up some posts tonight. Thanks for hanging in!
Anonymous asked: Hi Sam!
I stumbled across your blog a couple of days ago and I've practically read through it. I found that your writing style is clear, concise and addictive. Love that you have what I think is a great approach to make up.
I have what seems like a million question but I hope you’re willing to answer a few. Now, let me start by saying that I have just about the worst...

Anonymous asked: Hey Sam,
I recently bought the Classic Clarisonic and I love it! But I was just wondering what the difference was between the Clarisonic with 3 speeds and the Pro.
Also, do you have any skincare/ makeup tips for going on an airplane? My face always seems dry no matter how much mosturizer I have on.

Undereye Veins
I wanted to expand a tiny bit on the recent post I did about concealing undereye circles. Hopefully most of you know basic color theory, but for those of you who don’t, here’s a quickie lesson:
Colors opposite to each other on the color wheel neutralize each other. Targeting “problem” face colors, this means that green neutralizes redness, lilac neutralizes sallowness,...
Anonymous asked: Hiya, I was thinking of getting a Clarisonic. Which one would you recommend? Online stockists have the Classic (2 speeds), Plus (3 speeds) and Mia (1 speed). Would the variation in speed contribute to the effects or is it a simple case of find a speed suitable and stick with it? Does the brush head size matter if I'm simply looking at facial applications and not body?
Also, I...

michirondelle asked: First off, I just wanted to say that I love your blog. I ran into it from your guest post on Makeup and Beauty Blog and now, I'm hooked! Have you ever tried, or ever thought of trying BB Cream (Beblesh Balm)? It's the latest makeup craze in Asia and it seems to be spreading to the US!
Anonymous asked: I'll make this question shorter than my last one.
I have a hard time finding anything that covers the blue veins underneath dark circles. Circles are concealed easily--veins, not so much. I notice in your videos that you have absolutely no undereye circles--or those little blue veins that frame them. What concealer do you use? And how?

deschions asked: I'm a 20-year-old with a very easy to manage complexion (honestly, I can't remember the last time I got a pimple). Unfortunately, all cleansers I've tried have left my face feeling stretched and... "aged," if that makes any sense. Do you have a recommendation for someone with problem-free, not-oily, not-dry, completely average skin that seems to hate all cleansers on the...

Airbrushing
So, I’ve finally decided to bite the bullet and get myself an airbrush machine. I’ve been seriously considering the Temptu Air Pro (not the consumer, POD one you can get at Sephora), and the S/B line of their foundations. But I’ve also heard great stuff about the OCC Skin Foundations… Does anyone have any experience with this, and have recs for either the compressor or...

Clarisonic Review
I know you’ve all been clamoring for a review on my Clarisonic Pro (I swear, half the questions I get are about it!), and it’s finally here! Kind of. I just sent my written review of such to Karen at Makeup and Beauty Blog, and I’ll post a link here when it’s up (should be pretty soon.) I’ll probably also do a short video review. I’m still trying to figure out...
Anonymous asked: Hi there, I've got a question that you probably get asked a lot.
I've got combination skin, and while my skin can get dry, no kind of primer or setting lotion can get it to stay. I have acne scarring I want to cover up, and thats my big problem. I can't find a good foundation to stay that actually matches my skin (I'm quite fair, so MAC is out of the picture) and...

So, I have had consistent acne for about 2 years now. I have combination skin but get especially dry in the T-Zone, and the only place I get acne in is the forehead, nose, and chin. Are there any really great products that you could reccomend that would get rid of (or at least hold at bay) my acne? Thanks!
Btw. LOVE your blog :)

Anonymous asked: Thank you so much for answering my question about concealer! That was really descriptive! :D
I have another question though. (sorry!).So if I apply concealer first, when I apply my foundation after that I have to stipple? Is that dotting foundation over the area and using short strokes to sort of blend it?

Wheedling Down My Questions...
So, as promised, I’ve finished nearly all of your questions! They’ll be released on a schedule of about four per day for the next week, with pictures being edited in periodically. Now that that’s done with, I can finally start writing my “own” posts again!! Thanks so much for all of your support!
Anonymous asked: Hello. ..Great new blog! So, this question really stems from the major flaw I have with the makeup world (lol), and that is with glitter/shimmer/glimmer/whatever. I very much prefer/aim for clean, sophisticated look on a daily basis. I just sometimes feel like I've ruined my entire look when I apply bronzer and the 'light-reflecting micro particles' start reminding me of middle...
Anonymous asked: Hi! I really love your blog, it's so hard to believe that you are only 17 (I'm sure you have heard that before). I noticed you mentioned Ben Nye products, so I looked them up. I am interested in trying their products as an alternative to MAC, could you do a guide as to what your staples are with this brand and the best things to buy? Thanks a bunch!
Anonymous asked: My eyeliner pencils always run or simply disappear after an hour or so. I constantly have to re-apply. What's your favorite eyeliner? What can I do to make mine stay longer?

Hey guys!
So today I promised to answer many of your guys’ questions, and I actually still am! Only problem is, I’m at my dad’s, and many of my products are at my mothers’… So pictures will have to wait. I upload the pics to the respective posts soon enough, though, so no worries!
Finally Got One of My Photos Back...
Hey, so I finally got one of the semi-complete photos back from one of the first photoshoots I ever did! The background still needs to be changed, but the “me” part is supposedly done with editing. Check it out!
Anyway, my dad has a ton of work to do tomorrow, so I’m pretty much on my own all day. Whadya think that means? Yup! Answering all of your questions, at least...

Finally Figured Out My New Camera...
Hey, so as I told you all a few months ago, I did get a new camera for Channukah! And it’s pretty much amazing. However, since I’ve never had a camera of this caliber, when I first got it, I really had no idea what three fourths of the functions were for… So I’ve spent the last two weeks reading photography blogs/forums and user manuals, and watching instructional videos...
Preview of my review of Paco Rabanne "1 Million"
Here’s the opening paragraph of my review of the cologne 1 Million by Paco Rabanne. I sent it to Karen a few weeks ago so hopefully it’ll be going up on her blog soon:
You walk down the cement steps and step cautiously into the wall of lights. Dance music makes the air seem to buzz as if filled with a cloud of angry insects. Bodies meld into one another, indistinct forms of color...

Be Back Soon...
Hey guys! So, I know I haven’t posted a thing in nearly two weeks, but… I have an excuse!! Between finishing my last college apps, making plans for the holidays, dealing with the multitude of tests that teachers schedule for the last week of school, going to three different states, and seeing family/friends, I just haven’t had a mind for anything else. There’s a pile of...

You and your blog are a godsend. Anonymous asked: Just wanted to thank you for recommending the One 'n Only Argan Oil products. After reading your review, it sounds like we have similar hair types. With most hair products, I feel like I have to...

Anonymous asked: Ok, so i was just wondering how you know so much about makeup application and makeup in general when you're only 17. And how is it possible that you own so much makeup and so many makeup brushes when you don't even use it yourself because you're obviously a boy. It just seems a bit strange that someone of your age can know so much about and own so much makeup...
